What Are Some Testimonies of Christian Missionaries?
The testimonies of Christian missionaries can be very impactful for those who hear and learn from them. They are people who have obeyed the Great Commission, and they can be an inspiration to modern missionaries and all believers.
There are many examples of these powerful testimonies, but here are a few:
- David Brainerd was instrumental in reaching out to Native Americans in New Jersey, translating the Bible into their language to spread the message of Jesus.
- William Carey, dubbed the “father of modern missions,” served for over four decades, translating God’s Word into Bengali and fostering cultural transformation through educational and commercial initiatives.
- David Livingstone made his mark not only as a missionary but also as an explorer and anti-slavery advocate in Africa, his actions reshaping perceptions of the continent.
- Mary Slessor’s profound impact among the Efik in Nigeria included language learning, advocacy for women and children, and spreading the Christian faith.[1]

He traveled to a neighboring village to visit fellow believers and connect with villagers. When he arrived, he realized that God had a much bigger plan for him than just meeting new people and making conversation. This village was very poor, and there was a severe water shortage. The residents had to get their water from polluted ponds, lakes and rivers, and many of them got sick from drinking the contaminated water; a few of them were even hospitalized as a result.
Pastor Madhukar recognized the dire need for clean water, and he wanted to help. He soon received permission to install a Jesus Well. When it was ready, the people were overjoyed. The well did not just provide clean water to the villagers, it opened their hearts to understand the goodness and love of God.[3]
