Ambassador for Christ: Changing Lives for Eternity
An ambassador for Christ brings God’s hope and love to those who have not yet heard of Jesus Christ. This is the central aim at GFA World as we convey the Good News to those in deep need. One example of this at work is Sarina, a woman whose life was transformed by God through the ministry of a GFA-supported pastor and the prayers of believers.[1]
Sarina’s life had been one of labor and misery. She’d worked in the fields with her husband for years to feed her family. They’d raised their children and gotten their two daughters good husbands. Still, life was full of struggles.
Dara, her eldest daughter, had been married for five years but had not become pregnant. In their culture, this was a tragedy, and her in-laws did not spare her husband’s family the embarrassment. Sarina’s second daughter, Amaya, had given birth to a child, but the birth of a baby girl was not what her husband’s family had hoped for. They had deserted her, refusing to take her or the baby back.
Sarina’s heart grieved for her daughters. There was nothing she could do to help them, and there seemed to be no way out.
One day, while working, Sarina heard an unfamiliar but beautiful sound. Following the melody, she found a small group of believers worshiping in a nearby home. It was there that she first heard the name of Jesus.
Sarina listened as GFA pastor Radwan talked about Christ and his teachings. After the service, she went to him and told him her problems. In response, he did what came naturally: He prayed for her. This simple act of faith planted a seed in Sarina’s heart that would soon blossom into something beautiful.
What Does It Mean to Be an Ambassador for Christ?
Pastor Radwan did not live in Sarina’s village but regularly traveled there to encourage a local family and lead prayer meetings. As an ambassador for Christ, he was eager to share the word of Jesus Christ with them. He told Sarina that Jesus loved her family and that nothing was impossible for Him.
Sarina attended the prayer meetings and Pastor Radwan’s church. She learned more about Jesus and felt her heart changing. Encouraged by her new faith, she shared Christ with Dara. Mother and daughter both started to pray for a miracle.
It was a joy for Dara and her husband to meet Pastor Radwan two months later and inform him that Dara was pregnant. They knew this was an answer to prayer, a miracle from Jesus.
Sarina’s joy knew no bounds. She had seen the might of Christ, and she spread the word. She began proclaiming her faith to her neighbors and telling them about the One who had answered her prayers.
Nevertheless, her faith was tested. Amaya’s husband did not come home and had no interest in his wife or child. But Sarina did not lose hope. Along with her church community, Sarina prayed fervently for the restoration of this marriage. One day, her prayers were answered—Amaya’s husband arrived, asking to see his wife and daughter. The family was astonished. How could such a change of heart occur? Sarina knew the answer: Jesus had made the impossible possible.
What is an ambassador for Christ?
An ambassador for Christ is a person who stands for Jesus in a world that needs His love and truth. GFA-supported pastors and missionaries take this calling seriously as they spread the Good News to areas where people are still waiting to hear the name of Christ for the first time. They are the hands and feet of Christ, acting as His representatives, as Pastor Radwan did for Sarina and her family, giving them hope when they had none.
GFA’s work transforms entire communities. Sarina’s faith changed her husband and son. Her testimony brought two other women to Christ, and soon, a new Women’s Fellowship group discipled them. Dara and her husband used their home for monthly prayer meetings to share the Word of Jesus Christ.
GFA-supported pastors and missionaries want to share Christ’s love, but they cannot do it alone. Just as the apostle Paul depended on the support and prayers of believers, modern-day missionaries rely on your support to help them share the Good News with those not yet reached.
You can be an ambassador for Christ by helping enable these missionaries to reach more people like Sarina through prayer and financial support. Every prayer and gift brings hope to those who still do not know Christ personally.
Sarina came from despair and hopelessness and found peace and joy in Christ. And through her testimony, others have come to know Jesus.
This is the essence of being an ambassador for Christ—to shine the light of Christ in a suffering world, give hope to the despaired, and transform lives for eternity through the Good News.
