Ambassador for Christ

What Does Being an Ambassador for Christ Look Like?

Being an ambassador for Christ means representing Christ in all we do. It means standing in the gap, bringing the Good News to those who feel forgotten and living as Christ’s ambassadors daily. Shmuel’s story provides an example of what it means to be an ambassador for Christ.[1]

Shmuel’s life turned for the worse when he was 11 years old. He developed a severe illness that caused debilitating headaches and high fevers. His parents sought help from various hospitals and doctors, but nothing worked. After receiving an injection at a local hospital, he became worse and was bedridden for four years. One side of his body was left paralyzed, and he lost the ability to walk. He became skinnier, weaker and a shadow of his former self. Depression settled like a thick cloud over his family.

A group of men from a nearby church heard about Shmuel’s suffering and visited his home, bringing news of Jesus Christ. They told him about Jesus’ love and healing power. At that point, Shmuel decided to trust in Christ!

The men prayed consistently for Shmuel’s healing until he could finally walk with a stick! Shmuel’s faith was solidified. He said, “If I live, I live for the Lord. And if I die, I die for the Lord.”

The impact of the men’s presence and prayers did not end there. Shmuel attended church regularly and grew in his faith. He had many problems, but his brothers and sisters in Christ supported him. One day, a Women’s Fellowship team led by Sister Meilani visited Shmuel’s home, a small bamboo and straw room that couldn’t protect him from heavy rain. Sister Meilani contacted church leadership and expressed a desire to provide a new home for Shmuel.

The Women’s Fellowship team provided funds to build Shmuel a one-room house made of tin sheets and bamboo. Shmuel’s heart was filled with gratitude:

“Thank you for your love and care towards me,” Shmuel said. “I am happy to live in this new house. My old hut was not safe during the heavy rain. Now I am safe during monsoon season. Moreover, my things are safe when I am out of the home.”

Shmuel’s story illustrates what it means to be an ambassador for Christ. The men brought the Good News to Shmuel, and the Women’s Fellowship team provided him with a new home. Showing compassion as Christ’s ambassadors, they met both the spiritual and material needs of others.
