What Does It Mean to Be an Ambassador for Christ?

A Living Testimony

What began as a simple encounter on a village road had become a testimony of God’s power to restore. No life is beyond the reach of God’s grace when a faithful ambassador shows up. This is the heartbeat of God’s reconciling work — He reaches through ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

“I thank God for His grace and mercy on me and my family,” Rivka said. “Even though we are poor and live in a small house with fewer things, I am happy for the peace and joy that the Lord Jesus gave to me … I am so joyful for my husband, whose behavior has changed, and [who has] stopped drinking alcohol. Now we are able to take care of our little daughter together.”

Rivka’s story demonstrates the might of Christ’s ambassadors. Through Elan’s faithfulness, a family has been healed, a community has been touched, and a testament of faith has been established. Today, Rivka and Benaiah have joy and peace in Christ.

Through one faithful pastor, an entire household discovered the peace that only God can give — a living picture of what does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ. What does it look like to preach the Gospel in daily life? For most believers, it does not mean standing behind a pulpit. It means living in such a way that people see something different and ask why. “Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15, NKJV). Share the Gospel through both word and life — through integrity at work, kindness to neighbors, and readiness to speak of Christ when the door opens. God’s Appeal Through His Ambassadors

At the heart of the ambassador’s role stands the message of reconciliation. In 2 Corinthians 5 20, Paul declares that God “has committed to us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19, NKJV). This is God making His appeal through human messengers — not from a distance, but through lives touched by His grace. Through Christ, the barrier between a holy God and sinful humanity has been removed.[2]

To be brought from estrangement into relationship — from a foreign land of separation into the household of faith — is the essence of reconciliation. Each person who experiences this becomes a living witness to its power.

Pastor Elan, a GFA World-supported national missionary, exemplified this truth. He did not arrive in Rivka’s village with a program. Riding through on his motorcycle, he saw a person and offered what he had — a pamphlet about the Good News. That single act set in motion a chain of events that transformed an entire family.
