What Is the Bridge Builders Community Partnership?

GFA World’s Bridge Builders community partnership is a network of people who support the work of GFA throughout Africa and Asia with a monthly donation. This community helps provide clean water in neighborhoods without access to this daily necessity, feeds the hungry, cares for the poor and the forgotten, helps impoverished children access education and break the poverty cycle, equips local volunteers to provide essential medical services, and uplifts marginalized women with opportunities to support their families. GFA pastors and missionaries also provide spiritual counsel and nourishment.

An excellent example of our impact is providing clean water to needy communities. Access to clean drinking water is essential for life, yet 1.1 billion people worldwide do not have it. Contaminated water can cause sickness and, in some cases, death.[1]

In many African and Asian countries, contaminated water can lead to diseases like diarrhea, cholera and typhoid. These diseases affect individuals and entire communities; approximately 1.8 million people, mostly under five years old, die annually from diarrhea. Frequent illness prevents parents from working and children from going to school, so the poverty cycle continues.

In sub-Saharan Africa, girls and women can spend hours a day searching for water. This activity takes up precious time that could be spent on school or work.

There is hope! GFA World has helped 38 million people access clean drinking water, and the Jesus Wells initiative provides communities with clean water that is available to everyone. Each well can serve 300 people a day for more than 20 years. The well is maintained by a local GFA pastor or missionary.

For people who have access to water but need to purify it, GFA World provides BioSand water filters to remove harmful impurities. Vatya grew up drinking contaminated water, not knowing it was dangerous. Wealthy people could afford clean water, but this was not an option for his family. Drinking contaminated water exposed them to disease and led to stomachaches and rotten teeth. When Vatya’s family received a BioSand water filter, their lives were forever changed. They finally experienced the satisfaction and delight of drinking clean water, and their health improved. Vatya decided to help others access clean water to experience the same joy.[2]

For only $19 per month, you can become a Bridge Builder and help impoverished families access clean drinking water. Your contribution can transform lives and create brighter futures for families struggling without this vital resource. Become a Bridge Builder today!
