Christian Missionary Work Overseas: Transforming Lives for Eternity

Christian missionary work overseas transforms lives and communities by bringing God’s love and His message of hope to people who don’t yet know Christ as Savior, some who’ve not even heard the Good News for the first time. GFA missionaries have a persevering love for those who are yet to be reached. Our missionaries share the Good News of Jesus and work to meet the physical and emotional needs of African and Asian people in poverty-stricken areas. Through them, God’s love is demonstrated in ways that can be seen and felt!

Pastor Nantai’s story is a remarkable testimony about the impact of Christian missionary work overseas.[1] In his youth, Nantai rebelled against Christianity. Like the prodigal son, he lived recklessly and abandoned the spiritual foundation his parents had given him. Then, Nantai became desperately ill, and his mother, Zuma, prayed for his recovery. Zuma promised to dedicate Nantai’s life to the Lord if he survived. God answered Zuma’s prayers by healing Nantai. This was the beginning of Nantai’s missionary journey.

Pastor Nantai’s transformation was incredible. Realizing God’s saving power, he dedicated his life to Jesus, attended Bible college, and became a GFA missionary. As a missionary, Nantai shared God’s love in various ways with the people in the community he served. It was difficult, but God was with Nantai, strengthening him during challenging times. Nantai had to overcome resistance and opposition. However, living among the villagers enabled him to understand their struggles and create innovative ways to meet their needs. He established prayer fellowships, youth programs, women’s ministries and Sunday schools. Slowly but surely, people began to see God’s light.

National missionaries are an effective way to see people come to know Christ due to several key advantages. National missionaries, like Pastor Nantai, work in their home countries. They understand the language and cultural norms of the people they serve and can maneuver through areas that might be closed to Western missionaries. The benefit of Christian missionary work overseas done by locals is incredibly impactful in regions of Africa and countries in Asia like Nepal. For instance, Christian missionary work in Africa addresses poverty, contaminated water and lack of education. Likewise, Christian missionary work in Nepal brings God’s love to remote villages where people are isolated and have little to no access to the Gospel. National missionaries are the heart and soul of GFA World.

These stories of transformed lives and communities answer the question, “What is Christian missionary work?” Christian missionaries share the Good News in thoughtful and compassionate ways, like Pastor Nantai distributing income-generating gifts to help break the poverty cycle, teaching literacy courses and providing lifesaving resources like clean water. All this done in the name of Christ. Missionary work improves people’s quality of life and opens their hearts to the Good News of Christ.

Pastor Nantai’s missionary work demonstrates the power of prayer and faith. Nantai met a woman named Kahoni, who had been bedridden and tormented by an evil spirit for 17 years.[2] Nantai prayed for Kahoni’s healing, and God answered his prayer. Seeing God release her from oppression, Kahoni’s family and other villagers were drawn to Christ. Another woman, Sachiko, experienced a similar recovery after years of suffering. Miracles demonstrate God’s power and highlight the importance of missionaries who intercede on behalf of others.

Missionaries address both physical and spiritual needs. Their work is essential for offering the hope of Christ and providing practical assistance in regions plagued by poverty, hunger and illness. GFA missionaries organize projects like drilling Jesus Wells for clean water, providing free medical camps and delivering educational opportunities. Kind and generous acts demonstrate God’s love and pave the way for spiritual renewal.

The impact of Christian missionary work overseas extends beyond the individuals directly touched by missionaries. When a person’s physical and spiritual needs are met, a ripple effect travels through the entire community. People see there is hope for a brighter future and villages are united in faith. When the Good News of Christ is seen, heard and felt, it leaves an eternal impact on everyone.

Nantai has continued his mission to provide spiritual guidance and ensure his community remains connected to God’s Word. His dedication reflects the unwavering commitment of GFA missionaries to serve selflessly, despite obstacles.

Christian missionary work overseas is a labor of love. As such, it requires immense prayer and faith. GFA missionaries pray and trust in God, who accomplishes the seemingly impossible. Miracles happen when God’s love is shared with others!
