Christian Missionary Work Overseas

What Is the Benefit of Christian Missionary Work in Africa?

Christian missionary work in Africa represents a profound commitment to bringing hope and healing to those in need, exemplified by the unwavering efforts of GFA missionaries. Africa is home to over 1.2 billion people, who face immense challenges, including widespread health crises caused by inadequate medical care. In Rwanda, where more than 14 million people rely on just 1,500 doctors, the need for compassionate intervention is particularly dire. GFA missionaries are stepping into this gap. They are driven by a desire to demonstrate God’s love through words and deeds.

At the forefront of this mission is GFA World’s initiative to build a medical college hospital on the outskirts of Kigali, Rwanda’s capital.[1] This hospital will become the country’s second modern central medical facility, featuring 300 beds and advanced medical equipment. However, it will be more than a medical center; it will be a sanctuary where physical healing meets spiritual restoration. GFA missionaries envision it as a place where patients, many traveling from neighboring countries like Burundi, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and Chad, will experience expert medical care and hear the life-transforming Good News of Christ.

GFA missionaries bridge the gap between tangible resources and the intangible hope that sustains communities. Their commitment mirrors the impact of GFA World’s medical ministry in Asia, where countless lives have been touched by compassionate care delivered alongside the Good News of Christ. In Rwanda, GFA missionaries bring the same dedication, selflessly addressing the physical needs of vulnerable populations while sharing the love of the Great Physician.

The hospital’s construction, slated for completion in 2026, is a labor of love made possible by the collective prayers and support of believers worldwide. Each brick laid and each prayer offered testify to God’s provision and the steadfast faith of missionaries. However, challenges persist. Resources are still needed, and a large number of trained medical professionals will be needed to staff the hospital. GFA missionaries call on the global Christian community to pray for God’s provision, progress and the fulfillment of God’s vision for this hospital.

As the opening date approaches, we are excited to serve the people of Rwanda, and beyond, in this way. Attending to each patient with love, reminding each sick person that they are precious in God’s sight. The medical facility will address urgent health care needs and work to heal both the body and the spirit.

GFA missionaries turn faith into action. They are building a future of hope and healing for Rwanda and beyond. God’s love knows no borders. Join us in prayer and partnership to bring this vision to life, and together, let us be the hands and feet of Christ to a hurting world.
