Share the Good News of Jesus in Africa and Asia
Jesus calls us to share the Good News, a message of eternal hope and promise. It’s the message of how God has redeemed us from our sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus. The message is Good News because through it, we find forgiveness from sin.
The Good News is simple. First Corinthians 15:3-4 says, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (NKJV).
Who is instructed to proclaim the Good News, this message of God’s loving grace?
Jesus answered that question in Matthew 28:18-20: “‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” (NKJV). That means that all believers in Jesus are commissioned to share the Good News with our neighbors and friends, as well as around the world.
How can we logistically spread the Good News around the world?
GFA World makes it easy to partner in this endeavor by supporting the efforts of faithful men and women who serve in some of the poorest and hardest-to-reach areas in Africa and Asia. These GFA-supported pastors and missionaries are native born and live in the areas where they serve, so they are intimately familiar with the people and the culture and know how best to share this Good News. They also understand the needs of the people and how best to meet them.
When you support a national missionary, you help spread the Good News in places where it can be difficult for others to serve. Today, more than 85 percent of Asian countries do not allow Western missionaries to minister freely.[1] GFA’s national missionaries have a deep burden to help the people of their country understand Christ’s love. They seek to go and tell the Good News!
Pastor Elan[2] is a wonderful example! One day, on a trip to visit a neighboring village on his motorcycle, he met a woman named Rivka. When he offered her a piece of literature, she took it home. The words on the pamphlet stirred her heart, and she wanted to learn more. The name and location of Pastor Elan’s church was listed on the pamphlet, but it was quite a distance, and the journey was difficult. She was saddened by the possibility she may not be able to learn more about the hope of God.
Fortunately, Pastor Elan returned to her village the very next week and visited Rivka and her husband, Benaiah’s, home. During his visit, the pastor prayed over Benaiah, who was suffering from a fever and cough. He also told the couple about Jesus’ love and healing power.
Two days later, Benaiah was healed. The couple paid for a rickshaw to take them to Pastor Elan’s church, where they trusted in Jesus. Pastor Elan continues to visit their village and hold prayer meetings in their home. So far, four neighbors have come to join them!
“I thank God for His grace and mercy on me and my family,” Rivka said. “Even though we are poor and live in a small house with fewer things, I am happy for the peace and joy that the Lord Jesus gave to me. … I am so joyful for my husband, whose behavior has changed, and [who has] stopped drinking alcohol. Now we are able to take care of our little daughter together.”
Romans 10:15 says, “And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’” (NKJV).
Will you join us in sending more missionaries and pastors into villages just like Rivka’s?
Because these missionaries are local, they do not represent a foreign country or a strange religion. They look and talk the same as the local people. They know the best way to communicate the love of Jesus so people around them will understand. They are also sensitive to the needs of their neighbors.
Additionally, national missionaries live very simply and humbly. Most of them can live off $450 a month (depending on family size), making partnering with them a cost-effective investment.
Join us in supporting national missionaries who faithfully share the Good News of Jesus in their areas. When you become a sponsor, we will send you a photo and personal testimony of your missionary. You’ll also receive periodic updates about the work being done in their region. You will see how you are making a difference!
