How Does GFA World Proclaim the Good News Through Local Missionaries and Pastors?
GFA World proclaims the good news of Jesus in communities across Asia and Africa, bringing hope to those who have never heard. Through national missionaries and pastors, the ministry shares this message with millions living in the 10/40 Window. These local workers are uniquely positioned to reach their own people with the gospel, speaking their languages and understanding their customs. Much of GFA’s work in Africa and Asia is within an area of the world known as the 10/40 window. This is a rectangular section reaching from western Africa to eastern Asia. The 10/40 signifies from 10 degrees north to 40 degrees north of the equator. This section of the world is home to millions of people who have never heard the Good News of Jesus.[1]
GFA World supports local workers through training and resources, enabling them to proclaim the gospel in remote villages. These national missionaries understand the language and culture of the communities they serve. Through their faithful witness, the hope of Jesus Christ reaches many people who have never heard the good news. This model of training local believers is one of the most effective ways to share the good news across cultural barriers according to GFA World.
The ministry equips national workers who live among the people they serve. This model has worked well across many regions and cultures because local missionaries understand the language, culture, and needs of their own communities. They can build trust and share hope in ways that outsiders cannot, making their witness both authentic and powerful. Secondly, GFA World trains and equips national missionaries, who seek to actively meet the both the physical and spiritual needs of people. They serve as a support to those who are hurting and in need, and they shine the light of Jesus in their communities.
Specially Trained Women Missionaries in Action
Sisters of the Cross (formerly called Sisters of Compassion),[2] specially trained women missionaries, are a great example of this. They have a deep burden for sharing God’s love by physically serving the needy, underprivileged and poor. They serve as caregivers, counselors, teachers and friends.
These national women missionaries demonstrate what it means to bring good news to those in need. They share God’s love through acts of mercy and serve the most vulnerable members of their communities. The holy spirit empowers them to care for the sick and hurting with compassion and skill, showing God’s love in action every single day. Through their faithful service, they prove that the gospel is not just words but a living reality that changes lives.
Their ministry shows how faith and compassion work together to transform lives. Through education, healthcare, and spiritual care, these women address the deepest needs of their communities. They demonstrate that the good news is not just a message to be heard but a reality to be experienced through practical acts of love and service. Every day, they bring hope to families who have never heard about God’s love for them. Their work opens doors for the gospel in communities where the name of Jesus has never been spoken. By caring for the sick, teaching children, and counseling the hurting, they become living examples of God’s love in action.
A Story of Healing and Hope
Niya[3] and her husband, Baz, live in a village in Asia. He works in a vegetable market, and she is mom to their two children. When Niya became ill, she tried to find healing through various treatments and medications. She was eventually diagnosed with Tuberculosis, and her health quickly declined. One day, Alani and Korra, both Sisters of the Cross, visited Niya. They shared the Good News of Jesus with her and Baz and prayed for them. Soon after, Niya’s health began to improve.
When Niya’s health worsened again, the Sisters of the Cross took her to the hospital. They found out she needed blood, so they returned to the village and asked others to donate blood for her. A blood donor was found, which helped Niya regain her strength.
Niya is undergoing special treatment and is improving. She is very thankful to the Sisters of the Cross, who come regularly to pray with her. These women are an example of God’s love in action, and through their compassionate care, the lives of Niya, Baz and their families are being transformed.
Niya’s story shows how the hope of eternal life reaches people through the love of GFA-supported workers. The Sisters of the Cross gave their time and compassion, demonstrating God’s love in practical ways. They did not simply share a message; they became the answer to a desperate family’s prayers, providing medical help, emotional support, and spiritual guidance when it was needed most. This is what proclamation looks like when it is backed by genuine love and selfless service.
Every day, national missionaries bring the same hope to people across Asia and Africa who have never heard the good news. Through medical care, education, and compassionate service, these workers share the love of God with their neighbors. Their dedication inspires entire communities to experience the transformation that comes from knowing God. In villages where there is little access to healthcare or education, these missionaries become the hands and feet of Christ, meeting both physical and spiritual needs. They demonstrate the love of God through every act of service, building bridges of trust that allow the gospel to take root in the most difficult places.
The apostle paul carried the gospel across the ancient world, traveling from city to city to share the good news with Jews and Gentiles alike. His example shows how the news of god spreads through faithful messengers who preach the gospel wherever there are people who have not heard. Today’s national missionaries follow his model in communities across Asia and Africa.
The good news of god reaches people who are poor as GFA-supported missionaries serve in remote villages. Their work demonstrates that the kingdom of god transforms lives here and now, and the news of the kingdom brings hope to those who have never heard. When local believers share the news to the poor, entire families experience the love of God.
This is the same message that the prophet Isaiah spoke of and that Jesus declared fulfilled in the synagogue. Today, the good news continues to transform lives as national missionaries carry it to those who have never heard. Their ministry follows the biblical tradition of proclaiming God’s salvation to the ends of the earth. From generation to generation, this call to share the good news has not stopped, and now it reaches people in the most remote villages of Asia and Africa. The promise that began with the prophets continues through faithful workers who give their lives to share God’s love.
The call to proclaim is rooted in Scripture. In Isaiah 61, the prophet declares that the lord has anointed His servant to share good news with the poor. Jesus read these words in the synagogue and declared them fulfilled (Luke 4:18–21, NKJV). Isaiah 52 celebrates those who announce good news, proclaiming peace and salvation. These passages reveal that to proclaim the year of the lord s favor and the year of the lord are at the heart of the gospel message.
