Support Christian Missionaries

What Are Some Examples of Christian Missionary Activities?

Christian missionary activities involve spreading the message of Jesus Christ, also known as the Good News, to people who lack knowledge of it or struggle to understand its significance. Missionary work encompasses the delivery of the Good News, often accompanied by humanitarian aid and the establishment of churches or educational institutions. The objective is to create followers of Christ while providing spiritual guidance and material assistance to those in need.

Missionary activities transformed Rivka’s life, as her story shows.[1] She lived on a tea estate with her husband, Benaiah, and their young daughter. Life was a daily struggle. The couple worked continuously without adequate compensation, and Benaiah struggled with drinking problems, which worsened their financial difficulties. Their house became a place of strife because of his drinking, and they had no money set aside for emergencies.

Then one day, Elan, a GFA-supported pastor, arrived at Rivka’s village and gave her a pamphlet that explained the Good News. Rivka was curious. The pamphlet provided her with detailed information, but she remained uncertain about many aspects of what it said. It also gave details about a church location, but she didn’t have the time or means to travel there to attend services. Rivka yearned to understand Jesus better, but she needed directions for her next steps.

Pastor Elan returned to the village the following week and visited Rivka’s home. He prayed for Benaiah, who was ill with a fever and cough, and explained Jesus’ message of love and healing to the couple. Benaiah’s health returned to normal shortly after the prayers were said. The Good News can heal! Rivka was encouraged.

The couple decided to hire an auto rikshaw so they could attend the church service, and their trust in Jesus Christ grew more substantial. They began attending whenever they could, and Rivka and her family received prayer, guidance and constant support from Pastor Elan. The pastor started organizing weekly prayer sessions at their house, which attracted four neighborhood residents who wanted to learn more about Jesus.

Benaiah’s faith transformed him. After years of struggling with alcohol addiction, he quit drinking and started coexisting peacefully with others. Rivka experienced complete peace, accompanied by an unmatched joy that she had never known in her life. “Even though we are poor and live in a small house with fewer things, I am happy for the peace and joy the Lord Jesus gave me,” she says.

Christian missionary work created significant changes for Rivka and her husband. The delivery of the Good News, accompanied by practical support, results in physical and spiritual healing.
