Support Christian Missionaries: Advancing the Good News of Jesus

You can support Christian missionaries to advance the Good News of Jesus, transform lives and bring hope to the hopeless. At GFA World, this mission takes on a unique and powerful form as modern Christian missionaries not only spread the Good News but also address pressing physical and emotional needs in some of the most underprivileged regions on earth. Through the dedication of GFA missionaries, countless people have experienced life-changing hope through the life-changing role of Christian missionaries. When your community sends missionaries to regions where help is desperately needed, you become part of a movement reaching more than 2.6 billion people who have yet to hear the Good News, according to current global missions data.

Jesus defines a missionary’s role in Matthew 28:19-20. He says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” (NKJV). Through this calling, missionaries supported by faithful donors work in over 150 countries, teaching in more than 60 languages to make Christ known.[1]

At GFA World, our missionaries, equipped with modern tools and training, are at the forefront of Christian missionary activities. They do more than share the Word of God. They build hope and transform lives! Our missionaries are trained to identify and address the communities’ needs, including access to clean water, education, medical care or shelter. The Good News is not only something to hear; it is something to see and experience! This global mission connects churches in over 165 countries, creating a network of compassion that demonstrates Christ’s love through both word and deed, as documented in comprehensive missions outreach reports.

Understanding How Your Support Makes a Difference

Contributions to GFA World are tax deductible under IRS Section 501(c)(3), meaning your donations directly support missionaries while providing a charitable deduction on your taxes. Donations made to the organization for missionary work further the ministry’s purposes and remain under organizational oversight to ensure proper stewardship, according to established nonprofit guidelines.

Your local church plays a vital role in sustaining missionary work worldwide. Research shows that Christians who engage with short-term mission trips give substantially more to missionary support and are much more likely to become long-term missionaries themselves, studies on missions engagement reveal. This creates a powerful cycle where church involvement strengthens both giving and calling.

Shmuel’s story[2] is one of many that highlight the impact of supporting Christian missionaries through GFA World. Stories like his demonstrate how work in the mission field transforms entire communities, bringing healing where medical care is scarce and hope where despair once reigned.

Shmuel was just 11 years old when his life took a devastating turn. Once a healthy boy, he suddenly fell seriously ill, with unrelenting headaches and fevers. Despite visits to hospitals, doctors and even local healers, his condition only worsened. After receiving injections at a hospital, Shmuel became bedridden, growing weaker and eventually paralyzed on one side of his body. The family’s struggle highlights why missionary funding remains critical—many communities lack basic healthcare infrastructure, making the presence of trained missionaries a lifeline for families facing medical crises.

For four years, Shmuel was confined to his bed, with his family watching helplessly in despair. Hope finally came through men from a nearby GFA church. Hearing about Shmuel’s plight, they visited his home and shared the message of Jesus’ love and healing power. This testimony of faith resonated deeply with Shmuel and his parents. After deciding to follow Christ, Shmuel experienced a miraculous recovery. Slowly, he regained the ability to walk with the help of a stick. When church members actively participate in missionary support through prayer and giving, they extend Christ’s compassion to families who might otherwise never encounter hope.

The missionaries’ prayers and faith in God remind us of James 5:16b: “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (NKJV). Shmuel’s healing strengthened his faith and brought his family closer to the Lord. “If I live, I live for the Lord,” Shmuel declared, “and if I die, I die for the Lord.” Many missionaries must raise support through personal connections with churches and individual donors, often requiring years of relationship-building before they can begin their service.[3]

Years later, Shmuel faced another challenge when his bamboo and straw home could no longer protect him during heavy rains. Once again, GFA missionaries demonstrated Christ’s love in action.

A Women’s Fellowship team, led by Sister Meilani, took the initiative to provide Shmuel with a sturdy new house made of tin sheets and bamboo. This gesture of compassion and generosity filled Shmuel with joy and gratitude and was a testament to God’s provision through His people. Shmuel’s gratitude echoes Proverbs 11:25: “The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.” (NKJV). The organization financially supports these initiatives through donations from individuals who understand that meeting physical needs opens hearts to receive spiritual truth.

GFA missionaries have the tools and training to serve effectively in challenging contexts. Our missionaries work in remote areas and build community trust as they meet spiritual and material needs. Initiatives like child sponsorship, clean water programs and vocational training are integral to their service to the community. GFA World provides a transparent pathway for those seeking a missionary to sponsor, connecting donors directly with specific needs in communities where transformation is already underway.

In addition to transforming lives like Shmuel’s, GFA missionaries inspire others to join The Great Commission. Their unwavering commitment to the Good News and the people they serve reveals the transformative power of faith in action. Every day, their work brings hope to children, families and communities trapped in cycles of poverty, illness and despair. Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, these missionaries bring both immediate relief and eternal hope, demonstrating that faith without works is incomplete.

You are making an eternal investment when you support Christian missionaries through GFA World. Prayer and donations help missionaries bring hope to those in desperate need. Your support empowers them to continue sharing the Good News, providing lifesaving aid, and demonstrating Christ’s love in practical ways. The act of sharing the gospel extends beyond proclamation—it includes providing clean water, medical care, education and shelter, showing that God’s love is both spoken and lived.

For Shmuel, GFA missionaries meant a second chance at life. For others, it could mean access to clean water, a safe home or hearing of Jesus for the first time. Through GFA World, the Good News becomes a living, breathing reality for people in Africa and Asia.

Shmuel’s story reminds us of the incredible impact missionaries have on individual lives and communities.
