The activities of our Christian missionaries at GFA World vary depending on the location. For example, those working in the urban slums will have different activities than those serving in small, remote villages. Even so, there are several commonalities:

  • Love and care of people – Our national missionaries are experts at caring for people. These missionaries serve among their own people group where they are familiar with the food, culture and needs of the people. They demonstrate God’s love to their own through thoughtful acts of service.
  • Meeting physical needs – GFA World missionaries and pastors understand how best to meet the physical needs of people in poverty. This may be by installing a Jesus Well that provides clean water or by starting a child sponsorship program so children can receive an education.
  • Praying for spiritual needs – Missionaries offer prayer for the hurting and sick in their community. The needs are great, but our God is greater! “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16b, NKJV).
  • Providing lasting solutions to poverty – Lasting solutions may come in the form of gifts like farm animals to a family who is stuck in the cycle of poverty. For example, a small flock of chickens can provide enough eggs for the family to both eat for nutrition and sell at the market. Or the missionary may teach literacy classes for the adults, opening up more job opportunities. Or they may provide training in tailoring or candle making to bring more income-generating skills into the family.
  • Sharing God’s love – Missionaries are called to share the Good News with those around them. We aim to reach those in our communities who have yet to hear about the Good News of Jesus. Over and over, communities in Africa and Asia have been transformed as they hear about the love of God and see that love in action.
