Sponsor a Girl

Why should I sponsor a girl in Africa?

You should sponsor a girl in Africa because, as of 2022, 244 million women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa live in poverty, the highest concertation of females in poverty anywhere in the world.[1]

UNICEF reports, “Investing in girls’ education transforms communities, countries and the entire world. Girls who receive an education are less likely to marry young and more likely to lead healthy, productive lives. They earn higher incomes, participate in the decisions that most affect them, and build better futures for themselves and their families. Girls’ education strengthens economies and reduces inequality. It contributes to more stable, resilient societies that give all individuals – including boys and men – the opportunity to fulfill their potential.”[2]

Additionally, “Around the world, 129 million girls are out of school, including 32 million of primary school age, 30 million of lower-secondary school age, and 67 million of upper-secondary school age. In countries affected by conflict, girls are more than twice as likely to be out of school than girls living in non-affected countries.”[3]

With all these girls out of school, coupled with the knowledge that education lifts entire societies, the best thing to do is to become a sponsor for a girl in one of the poorest places in the world: Africa. GFA World’s Child Sponsorship Program has proven time and again that the sponsorship model works to ease poverty, ensure education and provide a pathway into the future.

You can be the one to pave her path to hope. For just $35 each month, you can help ensure that one girl is given the opportunity to grow physically and mentally. GFA program staff will make sure she the vital assistance she will need to thrive in school and succeed in education. She’ll receive support and care in a world that often chooses to devalue her life.

Through a special portal, you can send her encouraging words, Scripture to light the way and pictures of you and your family so that she knows someone so far away cares about her and believes in her future. Many of these girls don’t know what it’s like to hope. They are not told they can be anything they want when they grow up because growing up to be an adult is not guaranteed.

That can stop with you! You can speak words of life and value over a girl in Africa while helping ensure, through your monthly support, that together we can meet her needs and keep her in school.
